Translations

Locale files, changing texts, adding a new language, and translating config texts.

  • Texts from the config

Every player-facing text comes from locale/<code>.json: UI, notifications, chat messages, admin command replies, and kick reasons.

en.json and pl.json are included, complete, and share the same keys.

Server console logs are always in English, because they are diagnostics for admins.

Choose a languageLink copied

Lua
Config.Locale = 'pl'

Change a textLink copied

Open the locale file and change the value of a key:

JSON
"welcome.title": "Welcome to the city",

Keep the keys unchanged. %s and %d are placeholders for values such as the server name and must stay in the text.

Add a languageLink copied

  1. 1.
Copy locale/en.json to, for example, locale/de.json.
  2. 2.
    Translate the values.
  3. 3.
    Set Config.Locale = 'de'.

Missing keys fall back to English, so an incomplete translation breaks nothing.

Texts from the configLink copied

Texts you write in the config are translated by locale keys. Without a key, the config text is shown.

ElementKey
Select scenecamera.location.<key>
Camera animationcamera.anim.<name>
Image filtercamera.filter.<name>
Spawn location namespawn.loc.<key>.label
Spawn location areaspawn.loc.<key>.area
Spawn location textspawn.loc.<key>.description
Values from detailsspawn.detail.<lowercase value>

Example for a spawn location with the key bank:

JSON
"spawn.loc.bank.label": "Central Bank","spawn.loc.bank.area": "Pillbox Hill","spawn.loc.bank.description": "Right in front of the bank entrance."

.json files are strict. Every key-value pair except the last ends with a comma, and text must be in quotes.

Write a quote inside text as \".
