How to Clear Your FiveM Server Cache (txAdmin, Windows and Linux)
MLOs not loading, old clothing or a script change that never shows up? Clear your FiveM server cache in two minutes, plus a startup script that does it on every restart.
FiveM servers keep a cache folder with prepared copies of every streamed file: maps, MLOs, vehicles, clothing and the client files of your scripts. When you replace a file, the server is supposed to notice, but now and then it serves the old copy. Clearing the cache forces a clean rebuild.
When you should clear it
- A new MLO or map shows holes, missing walls or the old interior
- Added clothing or vehicles do not appear, or appear with missing textures
- You updated a script but players still run the old client code
- Ghost errors in F8 that point to lines that no longer exist
- After removing a big streaming pack
If only one player has these problems, the issue is usually their own PC. Send them to how to clear the FiveM cache on your PC.
Where the cache folder is
The cache folder sits in your server data folder, next to resources and server.cfg:
server-data/
cache/ <- delete this
resources/
server.cfgWith txAdmin, the server data folder is the one you picked during setup. If you are not sure, open txAdmin β Settings β FXServer and look at Server Data Folder. A default recipe install looks like txData/ESXLegacy_XXXXXX.base/.
Clear the cache step by step
1. Stop the server
In txAdmin press Stop (not restart). On a host panel use its stop button. Deleting the folder while the server runs can leave it half rebuilt.
2. Delete the cache folder
Delete the whole cache folder (or everything inside cache/files). Nothing else. Do not touch resources, server.cfg, your database or the txData profile folder.
3. Start the server
The first start takes longer while FXServer rebuilds the cache. Players will also download resources again the first time they join, which is expected.
Clear it automatically on every start
On a server with many streaming resources it is common to clear the cache on every boot.
Windows (a start.bat next to server.cfg, if you start FXServer yourself):
@echo off
cd /d "%~dp0"
if exist cache rmdir /s /q cache
"C:\FXServer\server\FXServer.exe" +exec server.cfgLinux (in your start script, before the run command):
cd /home/fivem/server-data
rm -rf cache/
bash /home/fivem/server/run.sh +exec server.cfgWith txAdmin, scheduled restarts only restart the FXServer process and do not clear the cache. Clear it by hand after big streaming changes, or ask your host if their panel has a "clear cache on start" option.
Clearing the cache did not help?
Then the problem is in the files themselves:
- MLO still broken: two maps overlap or one needs a newer game build. Check
sv_enforceGameBuildinserver.cfgagainst what the MLO asks for. - Clothing still missing: the pack may exceed the clothing slot limit, or two packs use the same names.
- Script still old: make sure you edited the copy the server actually loads, and that there is not a second folder with the same resource name.
